12v AC Non-contact Voltage Tester, Intrinsically-safe (ATEX)
Whilst exhibiting our Volt Stick LV50 at the World Gas Conference in 2018 we took the opportunity to talk to safety managers from across the world and discovered that there was a requirement for a more sensitive, intrinsically-safe Volt Stick. (Click here for more on Touch Potential Safety Thresholds).
The Volt Stick LV12 was developed, therefore, as a safety checking device for utilities field engineers to test metallic surfaces, pipework and cables to be safe from potentially lethal voltages at the lower levels required by some safety regulations.
The Volt Stick LV12 is sensitive down to just 12v AC allowing for instant - and potentially life-saving - identification of spurious / unexpected live voltages in materials, devices or workspaces.
Used in a wide variety of hazardous and potentially explosive atmospheres - such as gas and petrochemical applications - the LV12 is both ATEX and IECEx approved to be intrinsically-safe.
Approvals: Ex ib IIB T3 Gb, IECEx ExV 16.0018.
ATEX is the formal name given to the two European Directives for controlling explosive atmospheres. We take an in-depth look at ATEX Approval and its requirements for equipment in hazardous areas.
